We are now at the end of May and we definitely had a colder than normal month with water temperatures remaining well below normal in most areas. Despite colder weather and water temperatures we have been finding good success fishing for Smallmouth Bass in shallow water concentrating on the warmest water we can find for that day. Every day has been different for us depending on the weather conditions we are faced with the key for us has been locating the fish for that day and staying with them using light presentations fished slowly. Depending on the depth of water we are fishing our best success has come with using baits such as Rapala Jerk Baits, and soft plastics mostly being tube jigs with 1/8th oz jig heads. The Door County Smallmouth Bass fishing will only continue to get much better as we begin to get warmer weather and warmer water temperatures.
