Door County Walleye and Smallmouth Bass Report for August

Walleye fishing in Door County has been a little tough over the past couple of weeks but we continue to catch quality size Walleyes with some days having decent catches and other days having to fish harder and move around looking for active fish. I have been having success trolling crank baits behind planer boards while other fisherman are finding success using crawler harnesses. As far as the Smallmouth Bass fishing goes depending on the weather I have been having good action catching quality size fish in shallow water on different soft plastics along with spinner baits. The forecasted warm weather for the next few days should help improve the fishing.

A very nice double!!

Door County Walleye Action

Walleye fishing continues to pick up here on the Bay of Green Bay.  Here in Door County and in the central portion of Green Bay we have been finding success trolling crank baits behind planer boards for Walleyes. While we have been fishing many different areas we have been finding our better success where we can find warmer water with the wind blowing in these areas. We still have plenty of time to take advantage of summer fishing here on the bay of Green Bay for Walleyes.

Door County Smallmouth Bass and Walleye Fishing

With The month of August upon us now we are definitely in full swing  with summer. We are still catching good numbers of Bass in shallow water along with finding them in some of there deeper water summer haunts. Larger Walleyes are beginning to show up in the Sturgeon Bay and Door County area where fisherman are finding success trolling both crawler harnessess and crank baits behind planer boards. These fish should hold in there summer pattern until sometime mid September when they will begin to  transition into Fall patterns and locations.
