With recent cooler weather and and colder nights the water temperature has dropped to the high 50 degree range. The Smallmouth Bass have responded to the recent cooling water by beginning to put on the fall feed bag. Some of our recent trips have had some 40 fish days. Fall is a fantastic time to be on the water and enjoy some incredible fishing opportunities.
With Fall coming upon us now the water temps will begin to drop and that will trigger fish to begin to put on the Fall feed bag. The Fall fishing provides great fishing opportunities in Door County and on the Bay of Green Bay for many species including Walleyes,Smallmouth Bass,Northern Pike along with tremendous size Muskies. I have been fishing for trophy size Walleyes at night along with fishing for quality size Smallmouth Bass during the day. The month of October will provide fantastic opportunities for trophy Smallmouth Bass.
]We found the Walleyes to cooperate very well for us yesterday morning before the front moved through in the afternoon. We caught fish that were relating to wind blown structure between 25 and 30 feet of water. We had 9 fish for the morning ranging between 26 and 30 inches with a triple on our last pass all three boards on one side of the boat went back at the same time.
We are continuing to see good size walleyes on a daily basis here in the Door County area. We are experiencing good catches of walleyes both during the day and at night. With cooler weather approaching we will begin to see the fishing become stronger under the cover of darkness. Those who are willing to stick it out into the late hours of the night can experience some quality walleye fishing so dress warm and get out your head lamps and get ready for some great walleye action.
