May 27th 2012 Bass Fishing with Walleye in the mix.

Today was quite an interesting day to say the least and it was not the fishing that made the day interesting. Justin and I left the dock at 7am just after a strong line of thunderstorms moved through so I knew fishing was going to start off a little difficult. After fishing a couple of shore areas and catching a few small fish we moved to some off shore structure.Just after arriving we saw lightning coming across the bay so we made a run in to shore to wait out the storm and what a storm it was a major super cell moved over the bay and unleashed some heavy rain and incredible amounts of lightning making contact with the building we were taking cover in. Now the tough fishing we were faced with was probably only going to be tougher. After the storm passe we made it out for a couple more hours and managed a few more nicer fish. We caught our fish on several different soft plastic baits grubs, wacky worms and swim baits. Our biggest bass of the trip was a 19.5 inch fish which came on the last cast of the morning and just before that Justin caught a real nice 27 inch walleye which was a bonus fish for the trip.Like I said very interesting day weather wise but a very fun day fishing with Justin always enjoyable having good people in the boat.

Nice catch!

Nice Walleye in the mix!

May 23rd 2012 Door County Bass Fishing

Fishing for Smallmouth Bass the past few days has had its up’s and downs. With the winds blowing on Sunday and again today the fish cooperated much better than yesterday with absolutely no winds most of the day. With no winds on the water the fish can become very spooky and not so active. Yesterday did have some quality fish though with fish up to 19.5 inches. Today I fished several areas with one area having so many fish that every time I went through there I caught a fish or two. Things are shaping up for another fantastic year of Bass fishing which will go strong up till late fall.

May 12th 2012 Door County Walleye Night BIte

With the weather cooperating nicely and water temps rising every day the fishing has been awesome. With many areas producing lots of nice fish all around the lower bay I have been concentrating on areas with wind. With the day bite really going strong we did a trip last night trolling 10 to 13 FOW with minnow baits. With the complete lack of wind a stealthy approach was needed to get our fish. I trolled exclusively with my electric motor keeping planer boards far away from the boat. We missed a few fish that bit short but ended up with a nice batch of fish to take home. Having dates still available here in May and the fishing being so good I would like to get these dates filled and get people on this fishing while it is hot. Good fishing and as always be safe.

NIght Bite Still there
