Fishing Door County Walleye Fishing

Walleye fishing here in Door County and numerous locations on the Bay has been good for a while now. Over the past week we have had some of our walleyes relocating following schools of bait fish relocating due to rising water temperatures. We have been finding good success trolling crawler harnesses behind planer boards in water depths ranging anywhere from 15 to 35 feet of water depending on the day and weather conditions. The key to our success lately has simply just been staying in the areas where we find baitfish and dialing in on the exact presentation that the walleyes want for that day.

Door County Walleye Fishing

As strange as it may sound for many walleye fisherman here on the great lakes during the summer months we find some of our best walleye fishing when the weather is very warm and steady with stable or rising water temps. This summer we have been receiving some warmer weather and the walleye fishing has been really good with great numbers of fish being caught on most days along with some really nice size fish being available. We have been finding great numbers of fish relating to mid basin areas where they move around a lot and trolling patterns have been best for us in these areas trying to cover as much water as we can to intercept moving schools of walleyes. We will be out fishing on a daily basis staying on these moving schools of walleyes so we can capitalize on the best catches as they move through the system.
